My Filofax Week: Numbers 1 & 2

Two Busy Weeks That Came And Went

Well here it is the first real look inside my Filofax and what passes for my week. My Filofax certainly helps bring some sort of order to the chaos in my life but I've still got a long way to go.  I'm trying to create some sort of planner pages for my lists and things I need to do but it's very much a work in progress.  I shall keep you updated on how I'm doing.

Here's how my second week looked, sadly no better than last. Catching a cold from my eldest son didn't help improve things either.

Enjoy what's left of the Easter weekend.

Until next time

Inside My Handbag

'The Handbag Is A Rare Delight; It's Like Aladdin's Cave'
Bridgid Patrick

Ever since I was a child I have loved handbags. The first bag that I ever had was mock croc and it was probably some type of plastic but I loved it.  It was an exceptionally large bag but after I stopped using it and later rediscovered it I was surprised at how small it was. It was only years later that I realised that the bag had not shrunk, I had grown bigger. I still love exceptionally large bags and the one I use most of the time is my Cath Kidston red weekender bag with whitish, cream spots. All the bags that I now use areonly ever shoulder bags and totes I've always been a person who has way too much 'stuff' in her bag just in case. Sometimes the kitchen sink has nothing on my bag.

My Cath Kidston weekender

The good thing about nearly all Cath Kidston bags is the fact if you wanted to you could carry bricks inside them and the straps wouldn't break.  I have to admit I've never tested that theory.  Of all the Cath Kidston bags that I own no straps have ever broken and neither has the stitching come undone.

The bag that I'm using at the moment though is not a Cath Kidston but one from Marks and Spencer.  I bought it earlier this year and I think it was part of the Per Una range and is a lovely shade of blue.  You can buy black bags virtually anywhere but I love bags that come in other colours. Other than the colour I love the fact that it has two deep compartments plus a deep zipped pocket in the middle.

So here it is my bag I'm using right now

And now the inside. It doesn't have a zip only a magnetic closure

Here's half of what I like to keep in whatever bag I'm using

Clockwise from top left: Filofax, sunglasses (even in winter), mobile, Paperchase travel card holder, keys, pen, nail file,  Cath Kidston purse and pencil case for Filofax use

And here's the other half

Again clockwise from top left red comb (which I' had free over 30 years ago), Charlie body spray, Kodak or Samsung digital camera, Amazon Kindle, earphones for music,  distance glasses,  Cath Kidston personal mirror and
Cath Kidston makeup bag with makeup, migraine meds and sweetners,

Although I haven't shown them I always have tissues and a Cath Kidston cotton bag for shopping inside my bag. If I take my Dell netbook out with me I then use a second bag.

Until next time

My Notebook Collection

"Our Aspirations, Are Wrapped Up In Books....."
 Belle and Sebastian

After taking a closer look at my notebook and diary collection I have to admit that I have greatly underestimated its size. Not counting my Filofax I currently have four diaries. The last diary that I was unable to resist was a small Jack Vittriano one on sale for £2 in Foyles. I have five small and five large notebooks. Also in the collection are two A5 organiser notebooks with pockets. There are two pocket organisers, one from Filofax and one from Paperchase. The biggest part of my collection is my A5 notebooks; I have twenty nine of these. I honestly don't know how I purchased so many!

For the moment the notebooks are stuffed into my bureau

A small selection of my notebooks and diaries

I think perhaps I need to consider an economy drive on any future notebook purchases. I love my notebooks but I don't use them all as much as I should.

Finally a huge thank you to Steve at Philofaxy for creating a link back code for this blog.

Until next time.

The Fun Starts Here

Well I'd like to believe this is where the fun starts! Like so many people I've always wanted to have a blog but never really done much about it. This blog was created some time ago but I've failed to get it up and running, but today's the day where all that changes.

Firstly a little about me. I'm a divorcee and I live in Sussex with my youngest son who is in his late teens. I also have another son who lives and works in Scotland. I grew up in Wales but I've lived most of my life in England.

Secondly I have a numerous interests.  One of my interests is music but I probably won't mention much of that in my blog but hey you never know. So if not music what might my blog be about. Well I love stationary and have an exceptional amount of notebooks, I sometimes think there are so many that they multiply under cover of darkness. I have two Filofaxes, the first is a black personal leather one and the second is a small pink breast cancer one. I also have a Paperchase teal pocket organiser. I am starting to develop an interest in pens and pencils, can you ever have too many? I have large amounts of Staedtler Triplus Fineliners which I got for £1 a pack a few years ago at Tesco. I used to have an interest in scrapbooking but really don't do very much of it these days. My paper tape that I had for scrapbooking does come in very useful for personalising my Filofax pages. I regularly use A4 books of patterned paper which were free with craft magazines to make personalised notepaper to fit into my Filofax. Another big interest of mine is movies and in particular almost any with Cillian Murphy in them. If you're thinking who is he, and a lot of people do, he was Scarecrow in Batman Begins. This year he will also be in a BBC drama called Peaky Blinders.

Finally for anyone who is interested here are some photos of my Filofax.  The Filofax is a  little old so it doesn't have a name. I do think it's it's like the Tardis though, bigger on the inside than on the outside. So perhaps I should call it The Doctor.

Lastly a picture of Cillian Murphy as rephotographed by me from Port Magazine

Well that's it for now, hopefully this will be the first of many posts. I hope you've enjoyed my first post.
